English, Spanish, and Chinese with a Spanish Accent

My first baby graduated from preschool, sniff. If you'd asked me a few years ago, I would have scoffed at the idea of a preschool graduation. I wasn't falling into the trap of these cutesy ceremonies, sheesh. But now I'm a mommy of a couple preschoolers and damn are they cute. They didn't go to a school with a lot of formal celebrations- holidays were celebrated with a handful of parents bringing in treats (tamales - yum!) No singing or dancing or "performing" for the parents, most of whom could not get off work.

So I was really excited when the teacher told me I "was going to love this" after she reluctantly accepted the extra $2 donation (it was $2 per child and I'd given her $2 per parent). My first clue should have been when my future kindergartner added the songs "La Bamba" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky" to his Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle repertoire. Thank goodness I bribed him to let me video tape him since he barely sang at the actual graduation. They even had a dress code - blue jeans and a white shirt, whoo boy!

I signed up for cupcakes and took the day off of work so we were all set. They donned cowboy hats, bandannas around their necks and waved streamers to to Ghost Riders, then put on their glittery sombreros and guitars (for the boys) to sing La Bamba. Kid #2 had no requirements (no dress code or donations) so I had no idea what they had planned, if anything. They ended up singing these super sweet songs about friends, and then danced around manically (at least my child did) to the Mexican hat dance song, all the while wearing new preschool t-shirts. The first song ("Friends, Friends, 1 2 3. All my friends are here with me, etc.") was sung in three languages, and I could not figure out the last one. The teacher enlightened us..."We sang this song in three languages: English, Spanish, and Chinese with a Spanish accent."

I can't seem to get the video recordings on here (yet), so I've created an online montage for your viewing pleasure. By the way, this is from OneTrueMedia which is a super duper easy thing to use and a shout-out to SV Moms where I won a premium membership.
