Weekend Roundup

I'm taking a cue from Mayas Mom and posting my weekend roundup. I'm not sure if I can keep up the post a day, but I'm gonna do my darndest.

Friday Night:
The original plan was to go to the free family night YMCA movie to see Shrek the Third. My husband had to make some copies so he brought the kids to work, and told me that D had hit his brother too many times and was not allowed to go to the movies. K insisted on going with Daddy, so I took D home, fed him dinner and chocolate milk, read a few book and he promptly fell asleep at 8pm, 30 minutes before his normal bedtime. Someone was cranky and tired. Had some work to do so that worked out well.

Saturday:
Up, back to bed, up again, back to bed, finally up around 8am. Made breakfast, walked the dogs, scrambled to get the kids ready for a trip to grandma and grandpas so mommy could spend the day in SF, woohoo! Back around 3pm, met the gang at Rengstorff park and we all went for ice cream. Grocery shopping, pizza for dinner, books and kids to bed, followed by the usual TV, blogging and reading. Continued my work.

Sunday

Another painful day with D. We had a great playdate at Washington Park with a dad and his two boys, running and playing and talking Pokemon. The plan was then a quick stop at the Farmer's Market for fresh veggies and fruit. No dice, D would not get out of the car, and I could not imagine forcibly dragging a 4YO around the market so back home with "promises" of: no TV, no computer, no ice cream...AND mommy has to work. I was royally pissed and slammed all the doors. We had lunch, K got ice cream and D turned the TV on and off, asked about the computer over and over and over, until finally daddy came home, and promptly fell asleep on the couch. I was pumped up oodles of mommy guilt (I actually had Sunday 7pm deadlines, but that is pretty rare). K played just great on his own, and I offered painting, coloring, Lego's, etc. to them both, only to have D ask again about the computer or TV. I finally went up at 4:30 to take a break/nap, and of course they watched TV. Ah well, there's only so much I can do, and at least it wasn't a kids show. We had spaghetti and meatballs, which the kids hardly touched. They insisted on frozen peas, and ate lots of those.

  1. Busy weekend!!

Don't you hate it when they blow a fun night? I hate having to take away fun privileges... Especially if I have to miss the movie, too!
